Privacy
This website sets no cookies, shows no ads, and counts its visits on its own server, without knowing who you are. Here is everything that happens to your data, which isn't much.
What this website does not do
- No cookie, of any kind: there is nothing to accept.
- No advertising, no tracking pixel, and nothing that follows you from one site to another.
- No third party: the fonts, the styles and the scripts come from our own servers.
- No account: the website asks you for nothing, except whether a page of the documentation helped you. If it did not, you may write what you missed, only if you wish.
What the server handles
To send you a page, the server receives your IP address, the address of the page, and the name of your browser. It uses these data only to deliver the pages and to keep the website secure. It shares them with no one. It keeps no record of the pages that you open: only its errors go to its logs, with the request that caused them, your IP address included.
Retention: the server keeps its logs 15 days. Its encrypted backups, which hold a copy of them, are kept 30 days.
How we count the visits
To know how many people read the website, and which pages help them, we count the visits with Umami, an open-source tool that runs on our own server. Umami sets no cookie, and keeps no IP address.
For each page that you open, Umami gets the address of the page, without its query and its section, the address of the page that led you to it, the size of your screen, and the language of your browser. From the request, it finds your browser, your system, your type of device, and your country, region and city.
Umami also gets what you do on the pages:
- the copy buttons that you click: which button, but not what it copies;
- the links that you follow: where they lead, and where they are on the page (the menu, the footer, the documentation);
- a page that does not exist, with the page or the site whose link led you to it;
- in the documentation: your answer to “Was this page helpful?” and its reason, and the time from the opening of a page to its end, in ranges such as “1 to 3 min”;
- the words that you type in the search of the documentation, once you stop typing for 1.5 seconds: in small letters, cut to 50 characters, with the number of results, and the place of the result that you open.
Type no personal data in the search.
When a page did not help you, you may write what you missed and send it. Umami keeps your text with the page and the reason that you picked, like the counts, and nothing that tells who wrote it: write no name and no email in it, as we cannot answer you there. If you sent personal data by mistake, write to contact@ingenioz.it, and we delete it. To get an answer, report the problem on GitHub instead: GitHub then shows your account.
We read the counts as totals, and the searches and the texts one by one, only to improve the website and its documentation, and we share them with no one. Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in knowing how the website is read (GDPR, article 6(1)(f)).
Retention: Umami deletes the counts and the texts after 25 months. The encrypted backups of the server, which hold a copy of them, are kept 30 days.
How to object
To object, stop the statistics in this browser with the button below. Your browser then keeps your choice (umami.disabled, in the storage of this site), and the script of Umami sends nothing more. If you clear the data of this site in your browser, the statistics start again.
Umami also counts nothing from a browser that asks the sites not to track it, with Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control. You may also block the script of our statistics: the website works the same without it.
Your rights
You may ask to see the data that we keep about you, to delete it, or to object to its use: write to contact@ingenioz.it. Umami keeps nothing that tells who you are: to help us find your data among the rest, tell us what you did on the website, and when. You may also complain to the CNIL, the French authority for personal data: cnil.fr.
Copy buttons
The buttons that copy a command or a code write it to your clipboard, on your device, when you click them. What they copy stays on your device: Umami counts only the click.
Links to other websites
When you follow a link to another website, such as GitHub, its own privacy policy applies.
